I train and help to coach with Destination Judo classes at Danderhall and Glenrothes.

I also help out with the Judo Scotland Talent Development Squad.

My 3 children are part of the squad at Glenrothes.

Q & A Session with your coach:

What are a few of your Judo highlights?

Being Scottish and British Champion as a Cadet and being selected for the British Cadet Squad.

Winning a Gold at the World Veterans in Amsterdam and a Bronze at the European Veterans in Glasgow.

Favourite sport outside judo?

I love watching gymnastics, my daughter Rachael competed until recently and I miss watching her.  It’s amazing to watch what these gymnasts can do and to appreciate how hard they train.

Hobbies?

I love walking with my little Yorkshire terrier Darla.  We go walking in hills around Fife and she also loves a run along the beach.  I like to swim as well; it’s nice and relaxing especially after doing judo.

Keeping Fit

I try to do a judo session around twice a week and I train at home doing body weight circuits. I never have time to go to the gym. I also swim every week.

Favourite charity?

Yorkhill Children’s Charity.

Yorkhill Children’s Charity was set up to support the Yorkhill Children’s Hospital in Glasgow. They raise money for equipment and research which saves life’s everyday. My son Alfie had heart surgery at Yorkhill when he was 5. This is my way of giving a bit back.

Pets?

A crazy little yorkshire terrier called Darla.

Favourite country?

Spain – I always try to go to Spain or one of the Spanish islands on holiday. I love the sun, the beach, and the Spanish lifestyle.

Achievements outside of Judo?

Being a mum!

I have 3 children who all do judo.

It’s definitely hard work being a mum!

Favourite Food and drink?

Italian food is definitely my favourite. Pizza and pasta. It’s even better in the sunshine.

I also love a cup of tea and a cake .

As well as being a coach for Destination Judo Kirstin also runs Active Pandas which is a Judo based movement and activity class for preschool children.
